Random Pleasures of a Non-Working Girl.

Having the perks of being a delayed traditional college grad, i realize that i should enjoy life as it should be now. I am lucky, very lucky indeed to still have a little of that carefree, non-committal lifestyle going on for me.Here are a few things that i still get to do and enjoy.

  • Getting to sleep-in every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings till late. Days with no classes.

  • This leads to sprawling on the couch the whole afternoon watching re-runs on the telly, laughing to myself. It also means i still can indulge in TV series and actually keep up to date with the episodes in real time. Now that's a real luxury.

  • Going to the cinema during quiet non-crowded afternoons and on top of it - getting student discount on movie tickets still ;)

  • Getting drunk + hangover during the weekday. Not that it's recommended but hey, it's a major perk.

  • The pleasures of dressing down all the time is more than i can ask for. My wardrobe still consists of the good ol t-shirts/jeans/ shorts/tank tops/slippers combo. No stuffy work clothes yet. God forbid.

  • Making mistakes is still acceptable. I realize that i am allow to screw up once in a while being that it's a little more forgiving still.

  • Sitting in a peaceful library for a little time for yourself. You don't really see a working adult find time for a library don't you? And so I am enjoying the tranquility as much as i can.

  • Three hour lunches in the middle of the day, gossiping and a spot of shopping included.

  • One word - Budgeting. Being young, carefree and oh so broke has it's good and bads. I love a good budgeting plan especially when it comes to a road trip or holiday getaway. I get a thrill from having an amazing time all within xxx amount is priceless.

  • Did i mention that most of the time, it is still possible to function the whole day with just 3 - 5 hours of sleep? And that pulling an all-nighter is the norm especially when there are major exams ahead. Seriously, it's must be a God given gift/ability to all students.

  • Term breaks/holidays - they are given out freely a few times a year and does not need any approval from anyone.

  • I guess i am very grateful for most is the chance to still learn everyday and have the creative independent part of me intact. The freedom to express myself and do all the things i love still with time on my side and no responsibilities to carry. It is a sweet, sweet taste of freedom that i am holding on as tightly as i can till it last.
