Halia

The sisters and i stumbled upon this quiet almost unknown modern coffee house styled restaurant tucked away at the Sime Darby Convention Centre with an interesting "halia" (ginger translated in Malay) theme last Thursday. It serves an ala carte and light buffet menu for the lunch crowd and boast an amazing list of Ginger Teas paired with the likes of lemon juice, honey or plain milk. The teas were heavenly i must conclude. Individual press pots were given when ordered and for authenticity, rough ginger slices were placed in the pots to enhance the sweet aroma. It even has a local favourite drink with a twist which is "ginger teh tarik". We had our teas with a surprising dessert offered by the restaurant which was durian pancakes. It was odd to have such healthy alternative drinks and the most pungent fruit flavours of all put together but the pancakes were so good. Besides that, i heard that they do offer dinner buffet which is known for their grills for a really reasonable price. If not, the place is worth checking out as it has a nice quiet ambiance (love the sunlight streaming in through the windows overlooking greenery) , good service and overall a handsome looking restaurant.
